Stein HusebÝ about Decision making
Stein HusebÝ, Chaiman of the Conference, is also among the keynote speakers in Bergen.
Director of the Dignity Center in Bergen and Conference Chairman at the European event, Stein Husebø, will give a keynote presentation on Decision making and communication in care for older people at Solstrand.
Dr Husebø, an anaesthetist, was founder and head of the first multidisciplinary Pain Clinic and Palliative Support Team in Scandinavia at the University Hospital Bergen, Norway, in 1986. He is Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Palliative Care and founder and head of the Scandinavian Society for Palliative Care. He is co-founder of EAPC – European Association of Palliative Care. In 1998 he established the national innovation Palliative Care for the Elderly, a project which was gained a European perspective through Dr. Husebø’s Visiting Professorship at the University of Vienna. From 2008 this project led to the Dignity Center – Care for the Old, at the Bergen Red Cross Nursing Home, Norway.
In 2000 Stein Husebø received the National Pain-Award: German Association for the Study of Pain. He has published widely on palliative care and ethics, in English, German, Spanish, Italian and French.
