Bengt Westerberg, former Swedish Minister for Social Affairs, now president of the Swedish Red Cross, will be keynote speaker at the Dignity Conference.
Westerberg holds an associate degree in medicine from Karolinska Institute and an undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science at Stockholm University. He is Honorary Doctor at the University of Karlstad. He was leader of the Swedish Liberal Party from 1983 to 1995. He served as Minister for Social Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister during the four-party centre-right Swedish government 1991-1994. He is now president of the Swedish Red Cross, and currently also holds office as the Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
At Solstrand, Westerberg’s subject will be “Dignity for the frail old in a mature society”.
